I used to believe that if I just worked hard enough, people would notice. That my products and services would speak for themselves. That I could quietly build something meaningful without needing to take up too much space.
But here is the truth no one tells you when you step into entrepreneurship:
Your business will only grow as far as your voice will carry.
And for someone like me – a heart-led, motivated woman, juggling life, family, and a mission – it was not the strategy or branding that held me back.
It was my voice. Or rather… my fear of using it.
When Speaking Up Feels Like Too Much
I have always been creative. Driven. Resilient. But assertiveness? That did not come naturally.
Not long ago, networking events made my stomach twist. Client meetings left me second-guessing everything I said if I said much at all. And do not get me started on pitching – my hands would shake before I would even open my mouth.
I did not lack the ideas. I lacked the confidence to own them out loud.
There is this invisible pressure many of us feel – to be “nice” before we are bold, to be agreeable before we are clear. I thought if I came across too strong, I would be judged. But what I have learned is this:
Speaking with power does not make you less kind. It makes you credible.
Assertiveness Is Not Loud. It Is Clear.
I used to picture assertiveness as loud, commanding, maybe even pushy. But I have come to see it differently.
Assertiveness, for me, means being clear. Grounded. Direct, without apology.
It is the moment I say:
“This is the value I bring.”
“Here’s what I need from this partnership.”
“I’m not available for less.”
It is setting a boundary in business without guilt.
It is following up without feeling like a nuisance.
It is taking the mic and trusting that I deserve to be heard.
Because Power Builds Partnerships
The turning point for me came after I missed out on a major opportunity – not because my product was not good enough but because I hesitated. I downplayed. I fumbled my pitch because I did not trust my voice.
That loss hurt. But it woke me up.
If I wanted to grow this business into something lasting – not just for me, but for my family, my community, and the planet – I had to start speaking like the CEO I wanted to be.
And the more I practiced? The more I saw doors open.
Conversations flowed.
Connections deepened.
Confidence attracts opportunity. It is just that simple.
If You Are Struggling to Speak With Power, You Are Not Alone
If you are reading this and thinking, “This is me…” – I see you.
Maybe you hold back in meetings. Maybe your throat tightens when someone asks about your pricing. Maybe you dread having to “sell yourself,” even though you believe in what you do.
Let me say this clearly:
You are not too quiet. You just have not been taught how to speak your value – yet.
You can learn to communicate with calm, grounded power. You can lead with grace and assertiveness. And when you do, everything shifts: your visibility, your income, your impact.
One Final Thought: The World Needs Your Voice
Your business is not just a side hustle or a passion project – it is a vehicle for change.
And the world does not just need your product or service.
It needs your leadership. Your story. Your voice.
So speak up, powerfully and purposefully.
Because when you rise, so does your business.
And trust me – there is room for your voice at the table.
You just have to claim it! 🗣️
